Description
SPX Johnson Pump Automatic Float Switch AS888 6, 12, 24 and 32 Volt
For full automatic bilge pumping operation, connect the automatic switch to your bilge pump. The AS888 automatic switch has a time-proven micro switch without mercury. When water exceeds the acceptable level, the pump is turned on by a rolling steel ball, which changes the pressure on the micro switch.
The AS888 attaches to any of SPX’s Johnson Pump Marine Brand bilge pumps through the clip on “T-slot” and can be used with 6 Volt, 12 Volt, 24 Volt and 32 Volt pumps up to 180 Watt.

Boat Hut Insight
When choosing an automatic float switch like the AS888, consider the environment where your boat is moored or used. If you frequently encounter debris or oily water in the bilge, the rolling steel ball mechanism can sometimes become less responsive over time. Regular inspection and cleaning of the float switch can extend its reliable operation. Also, pairing the float switch with a pump that has a slightly higher wattage rating than the maximum specified can provide a safety margin for heavy-duty bilge conditions without overloading the switch.
Pro tip: If your boat is left unattended for long periods, consider installing a secondary manual override switch to test the pump and float switch operation before heading out on the water.
